The first commercially available tillage radish variety, called &#8220;Groundhog,&#8221; was developed in the early 2000s by the plant breeding company Cover Crop Solutions. Since then, the use of radishes as a cover crop has increased in popularity due to their ability to break up compacted soils, scavenge nitrogen, and improve soil structure.
